The University of Petra, represented by the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Professor Mahmoud Al-Salkhi, participated in a celebration organized by the Jordan Academy of Arabic to mark World Arabic Language Day. The event, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Hassan bin Talal, took place in the Dr. Abdul Karim Khalifa Hall and was attended by a distinguished group of academics, cultural figures, and Arabic language enthusiasts.
The celebration featured speeches and discussion sessions emphasizing the importance of the Arabic language in shaping cultural identity and its role in keeping pace with scientific and digital transformations. The academic symposium included two research papers: the first, presented by Professor Al-Sadiq Al-Faqih, titled "The Influence of Arabic on Global Culture and Civilization," and the second, titled "The Heritage of Arabic in Western Thought: Edward Said as a Model," presented by Professor Mohammad Shaheen.
During the event, the academy announced the winners of its 2024 cultural awards in their ninth cycle and honored the top achievers in the proficiency exam, as well as experts, judges, and winners of Arabic calligraphy and creative writing competitions.
The University of Petra's participation underscores its commitment to fostering partnerships with national institutions to support the prominence of the Arabic language and affirm its role as a bridge for civilization and knowledge worldwide.
