In recognition of its outstanding and ongoing efforts to achieve the highest standards of environmental excellence, the University of Petra has won first place and the Gold Level at the Emirates Energy Award 2025. The award ceremony took place during the 11th World Green Economy Summit 2025 in Dubai, held under the gracious patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, presented the awards and certificates to the winners during the fifth edition of the award, held under the theme “Promoting Carbon Neutrality." The University of Petra's award was received by Professor Rami Abdel-Rahem, President of the University, and Dr. Nidal Hussein, Assistant Director of the Quality Assurance, Planning, and Measurement Unit, and Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
The Emirates Energy Award serves as an international platform that brings together companies, institutions, and experts in the energy sector to showcase their achievements in energy management and conservation. It also highlights key innovations in the field and honors organizations and individuals who have contributed to advancing them.
This year's edition saw the participation of 240 institutions and organizations from 24 countries, including Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, South Korea, Morocco, Kuwait, Palestine, Algeria, Qatar, Oman, Yemen, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan.
