The Faculty of Engineering at University of Petra has announced the launch of a new Master's program in "Engineering Project Management," beginning in the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. This follows the approval from the Council for the Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions and Quality Assurance.
Dr. Ziad Taqi Al-deen, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at University of Petra, stated that the Master's program in "Engineering Project Management" is highly demanded in the modern business environment. The program's design and development were coordinated with the Jordanian Engineers Association and the Contractors Association to address knowledge gaps and meet the skills required to keep pace with contemporary developments in the engineering field. These requirements are included as mandatory courses in the program's curriculum. Taqi Al-Deen also mentioned that the program is open to Bachelor's degree holders in all engineering disciplines.
The program covers various topics, including Engineering Contracts Management, Risk Management in Engineering Projects, and Sustainability in Engineering Project Management, Research Methodology, Advanced Engineering Economics, and Advanced Applied Statistics. The program is divided into two tracks: a comprehensive track and a thesis track.
The curriculum includes a wide range of elective courses that meet the needs of graduates from different engineering disciplines, such as Cost Engineering, Planning and Control for Engineering Projects, Quality Management in Engineering Projects, Construction Methods and Technology, Information Systems Management in Engineering Projects, and Environmental Systems and Water Resources Management.
