Prof. Rami Abdel-Rahem, President of the University of Petra, sponsored the launch of the UOP Club Ramadan Charitable Campaign, which included the distribution of parcels to orphan care centers and charitable organizations, in the presence of their representatives. This year, the campaign distributed parcels to eleven organizations working in the field of orphan care and charitable work.
During his speech, Abdel-Rahem mourned the death of Eng. Ramzi Abu Shawish, Computer Technician at the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences, saying: "Yesterday, the university lost a dear colleague and one of the most loyal employees at work, Mr. Ramzi Abu Shawish. We dedicate this campaign collected from donors at the university for his pure soul."
Abdel-Rahim stressed that he is proud of the UOP Club family, academic staff and administrative staff at the university, who contributed to the success of this campaign by providing donations or collecting them.
Arafat Al-Da'ja, Head of Al-Moqabelin Association, delivered a speech on behalf of the orphan care centers. He expressed his thanks to the university presidency, saying: "He who does not thank the people is not thankful to Allah". He also praised the university's activities in organizing daily Ramadan iftars for orphan children.
It is noteworthy that the UOP Club is one of the active centers in the local community service and supporting orphanage centers.
