Prof. Rami Abdel-Rahim, President of the University of Petra, participated in the fifty-fifth session of the General Conference of the Association of Arab Universities, which was hosted by the University of Monastir and the University of Sousse in Tunisia. This came in the presence of the Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities, Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, and several Arab ministers of higher education, with the participation of 220 university presidents from 22 Arab countries.
Abdel-Rahim said that direct communication with presidents of Arab universities helped open channels of joint cooperation and learn about the experiences of other Arab universities in the areas addressed in the conference activities. The aim was to evaluate and enhance the experience of the University of Petra in a way that helps in the planning processes and strategies that the university will pursue.
The conference activities included a series of discussion sessions, including a special session entitled "Digital Transformation in Higher Education: Experiences and a Look Forward", and another session on student participation and the role of students in university governance.
