As part of a delegation from Arab countries, Dr. Ali Al-Dabbas, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Petra, and Dr. Fathi Al-Faouri, director of the legal clinic at the University, visited legal clinics in French universities and a number of legal institutions in France.
The visit was aimed at acquainting officials of legal clinics in the participating law faculties with the experiences of the French legal clinics, which highlights the importance of integrating legal clinics into the curricula. It also enhances the expertise of legal clinic supervisors through the exchange of experiences between the parties participating in the project.
The visit was part of the partnership between UOP's Faculty of Law and the Francophone University Agency in implementing a project to enhance the right of vulnerable groups to litigation and obtain legal aid through the establishment of a network of legal clinics.
The visit included Jean Moulin Lyon III University, the University of Paris VIII, the Paris Bar Association, and the Bar Training Institute in Paris.
Arab countries participating in the program included Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine and Egypt. The Jordanian universities were represented in this visit by the University of Petra and the University of Jordan.
