The University of Petra and the National Cyber Security Center signed a memorandum to frame cooperation in scientific research in cybersecurity. Prof. Rami Abdel-Rahem, President of the University, hosted in his office the delegation of the National Cyber Security Center headed by Eng. Al-Maharmeh. The meeting witnessed the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and some faculty members at the university.
Abdel-Rahem stressed the growing need for cybersecurity for institutions and individuals. He added that the University of Petra is keen to provide its students with relevant knowledge and skills due to its importance. Al-Maharmeh indicated that cybersecurity threats and their attacks are as serious as threats in the real world. It was indicated that the memorandum of cooperation aims to build cooperation frameworks in the academic, scientific and research fields in cybersecurity.
The memorandum was signed by Dr. Wael Hadi, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Petra, on behalf of the President of the University of Petra, Prof. Rami Abdel-Rahem, and Eng. Bassam Al-Maharmeh, President of the center, on behalf of the National Cyber Security Center.
The memorandum opens doors for cooperation in holding specialized technical training courses, workshops, conferences and seminars, in addition to scientific research and strategic studies.
Dr. Wael Hadi said that this memorandum marks the beginning of cooperation with the National Cyber Security Center in raising awareness among students and training them on the latest technologies in cybersecurity.
Prof. Rami Abdel-Rahem, President of the University, handed over the university's appreciation shield to Eng. Bassam Al-Maharmeh during his meeting in his office.
Engineer Al-Maharmeh said, "The center seeks to build partnerships with all entities and institutions based on its belief in the importance of cooperation, enhancing efforts to secure a safe cyberspace, and building students and graduates' capacities and skills in cybersecurity."
