A Jordanian scientific study resulted in the manufacture of compounds of imidazole and piperazine derivatives with high stability and promising efficacy on some germs that cause skin and urinary tract infections and tuberculosis, in addition to efficacy on several types of tumors and cancers, namely leukemia.

Sondos Al-Sawakhneh, a master's student from the Department of Chemistry at Al al-Bayt University, defended her master's thesis supervised by Prof. Yassin Al-Saud. The defense committee members were Prof. Raed Ghanem and Prof. Haitham Al-Saadouni from Al al-Bayt University, and Dr. Luay Abu-Qatouseh, Specialist in medical microbiology and clinical immunology from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at the University of Petra. They recommended granting Sondos a master's degree and stressed the importance of her thesis and her efforts in it.

The experiments in the study were conducted jointly with the University of Petra, Al al-Bayt University, the University of Jordan, and universities outside Jordan, including the University of Sharjah and German universities. More than four scientific papers have been published in prestigious international journals in medicinal chemistry and chemical manufacturing.
