Students from the Department of Architecture at the University of Petra participated in designing the "Al-Ghareeb Forum" project in the city of Shobak as part of the "Architectural Design 1" course for second-year students, under the supervision of Engineer Shatha Qtaiteh.

The project aims to provide a cultural and social platform that reflects the city's identity while meeting the needs of the local community and tourists.

The Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Dr. Amer Al-Jokhdar, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Prof. Mahmoud Al-Salman, met with Emad Al-Bdour to discuss future collaboration opportunities aimed at enhancing the university's role in serving the local community.

The university campus hosted the project's final discussions, with the participation of the project's originator, Emad Al-Bdour, alongside a group of academics and engineers.

Throughout the semester, students were introduced to the project's vision and objectives, which focused on creating a rural environment inclusive of all community groups, reviving the rural character, and promoting the role and empowerment of women.

The project aimed to provide a space for showcasing cultural and artistic creativity and developing facilities that serve visitors and support local tourism.

Students presented diverse, creative design proposals that embodied the project's ideas and addressed the needs of the local community. The project integrated modern design elements with traditional features, emphasizing environmental and aesthetic harmony.

This initiative highlights the importance of strengthening the relationship between academic education and the community by offering design solutions that contribute to local development and reflect the University of Petra's vision of supporting creativity and community service.
