On Tuesday 3/11/2015 at 3 pm, Prof. Marwan Muwalla, president of the University of Petra, sponsored the graduation ceremony of the private training session: The Art of Debating in the Field of Electoral Integrity. The Faculty of Law in cooperation with Rasheed Coalition for Integrity and Transparency organized the event where 20 students were in participation.
The session comes from the keenness of the Faculty of Law in the development of its students’ skills and the expansion of their knowledge outside the framework of the curriculum. This will help them to engage in community service in the future through the promotion of a culture of dialogue and debate. It also raises their abilities and skills in legal work, specifically in the area of language and build legal arguments and communication skills.
The session lasted for three days from 1-3/11/2015, with 12 training hours during which participants received training on the following topics; The importance of the corresponding elements, communication skills, Mais form as one of the forms known internationally for debating, speaking & listening skills, organizing priorities, building arguments, formulation of corresponding categories, in addition to ethics of debating and teamwork skills.
The session was carried out under the direct supervision of Dr. Ali Dabbas. Mr. Emad Abu Saleh, consultant and trainer in the art of debate at the national and regional level, took over the duties of training. The session has been carried out at the premises of Faculty/Moot court. The court is equipped with all the necessary furniture and equipment in the development of better courtrooms in any country.
