Ministry of Political & Parliamentary Affairs (MOPPA) in cooperation with Al Hayat Center for Civil Society Development (RASED) and UOP Students Affairs Deanship organized awareness-raising campaign on Elections Law with the aim of encouraging young people to vote in the upcoming elections.

Anas Al Turman, Researcher at MOPPA, said that MOPPA's participation in the campaign stems from the important role of young people in building the Jordanian Society as it is considered as a young society.
MOPPA is encouraging young people to vote in the upcoming elections by supporting the initiatives of civil society organizations and holding workshops to the civil society in the governorates, many of which was held in cooperation with Independent Elections Commission (IEC), Al Turman added.
"Non-participation of young people in the previous elections was attributed to entrenched stereotypes on non-usefulness of participation and ineffective role of previous Parliaments," Lawyer Talal Olimat awareness-raising campaign manager at Jordanian Universities from RASED center pointed out.

"The campaign aims to change the young people stereotype by illustrating that their non-participation in electing candidates capable of change is one of the causes leading to elect a weak parliament. Boycotting elections will result in electing incompetent deputies and young people must vote to help capable candidates to succeed in the elections," he added.
