The Accreditation Service for International Colleges (ASIC) has granted the certificate of accreditation to English Language and Literature Department (Premier Department). UOP English Department is the first department in Jordan that obtained this certificate.
ASIC has granted English Language and Literature Department the certificate following a visit to UOP to ensure the necessary requirements were met to obtain this certificate.
UOP President Prof. Marwan Muwalla congratulated English Department teaching and administrative staff and said that “ASIC certificate is a new achievement to be added to UOP record. Moreover, work is underway in all UOP departments to obtain international accreditation certificates and improve the quality of its programs”.
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Prof. Mohammed Anani said that granting ASIC is a reasonable result for efforts exerted by teaching staff and a clear indication of the quality of the programs provided, emphasizing that English Department Programs have undergone significant shift in terms of keeping pace with the latest developments in digital learning.
English Department Chair, Prof. Omar Atari said that granting ASIC certificate to English Department will positively impact English graduates, especially in applying for British and global universities and increasing their job opportunities in the labor market.
“Granting ASIC certificate to English Department helps the department in launching a joint training program with Queens University in Simultaneous Interpretation and other training programs in teaching English to the teachers of English in public and private schools and launching a training program on using English for communication for businessmen, diplomats and academics.
It is noteworthy that Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities (ASIC) is an international body for accreditation, member of the British Quality Foundation (BQF) and member of the CHEA International Quality Group (CIQG) in USA and is listed in their International Directory.
UOP was the first Jordanian institution that obtained quality assurance certificate by Higher Education Accreditation Commission (HEAC) for the third year in a row. It is worth noting that computer science and computer Information systems programs was accredited by ABET and UOP obtained ISO 2015:9001 Certificate.
