      The paper argues for a synthesis which incorporates major domains in textual structure , cognitive processing , and social context that emphasize the process of product – oriented writing approaches to the teaching of writing at academic institutions in the EFL / ESL contexts . To support this suggestion , the author presents a psycholinguistic construct and non – native speakers' reading and writing processes .       The paper attempts to argue that language learning is more likely to be successful when the study of literary texts is related to the literary skills the suggestion is that literature by the deployment of language, or discourse, will assist the student-reader in vicariously experiencing the total communicative situation. Such a reading program will govern the choice of the teaching method.       Dr. Nihal Umairah, " Identifying the English and Study Skill Needs of Science Students at the University of Petra: A Case Study " , "Cypriot Journal of Educational Sciences (CJES)",Vol.9,No.3, Cypriot Journal of Educational Sciences (CJES), Cyprus, 11/27/2014 :الملخص
      This paper brings to attention a variety of difficulties in the teaching of English for academic purposes (EAP) in tertiary education. It indicates the growing recognition that students learning English as a means of access to advanced knowledge in the various disciplines at the University of Petra (UOP) in Jordan have highly specific language requirements. But equally, the paper reflects the sense of concern felt by language and special-subject teachers at the sheer scale of the problem now posed by students requiring specialist language help. Parallel with this is the increase in the variety and degree of language difficulties which they experience. The paper also provides an overview of students’ language difficulties investigated in previous and current research conducted by the researcher, to show how the constituents of an appropriately designed syllabus might ease some of the difficulties encountered. Hence, the proposal is for a general pattern for EAP syllabus design which on the one hand will ensure unity by teaching the skills and language that are common components of English for General Academic Purposes (EGAP), and on the other hand allow for diversity by teaching some prime linguistic and discourse features that are specific components of English for Special Academic Purposes (ESAP) which must be taken into account in the teaching of EAP to native Arab literates.       This paper proposes a restructuring of in-service teacher education programmes in terms of content and process derived primarily from research on teaching and implications for prachce. It proposes revisions in academic teacher education, suggesting the inclusion of more clinical work . It also proposes possible revisions by attending to process in training and developing professional skills and judgment in orders to assist teachers to modify their teaching skills and attitudes. Restructuring must also involve collaboration between members of faculties who produce educational knowledge and those who use the knowledge to train student teachers .       Nihal Ameira, " Linguistic Input and the learner's ability to decode speech: the case of the adult foreign / second language learner " , "",Vol.,No., , , 04/17/2002 :الملخص
      The paper deals with models of the psychological processes leading to the perception of speech .It also draws attention to the complexity of the perceptual task, seen as '' a continuous process of analysis and synthesis. The paper , further draws attention to the specific type of learning available to the forein / second (F/S)adult language learners in terms of the limitations imposed upon their brain structure. The paper, therefore, argues that communicative listening activities employing natural simplification of language in the direction of interactional modifications and elaborations are shown to provide for authenticity of learner response; thus, providing learners with input in some measure tantamount to that provided to L1 acquires . The paper finally draws pedagogical implications foe formal and informal learning , proposing an integrated model of listening methodology which takes account of both modes of learning and forms the basis for a sample activity described in detail.       This paper outlines procedures for assessing student needs, setting achievable goals, designing a program and, selecting appropriate materials and activities ESP chssrom. The project also provides suggestions for teaching the four language skills in ESP as well as grammar and study skills. The paper further presents a model of ESP testing, establishing the link among the learners' needs, teaching and testing. Download
