Since
its establishment in 1991, the University of Petra (UOP) has occupied
an exalted position and enjoyed unique reputation among Jordanian, Arab
and foreign universities thanks to its distinguished elite of teaching
staff who follow best practices in education and keep pace with
continuous developments.
Moreover,
UOP has adopted latest developments in Information Technology and
sought to improve theoretical, applied and educational components of its
programs.
UOP
ensures creation of appropriate environment to enable students to
improve their skills and abilities and understanding of their social and
cultural responsibilities and national affiliation.
UOP
administration is committed to create appropriate atmosphere to
students to exercise academic rights and respect for and accept
dissenting views. UOP administration promotes multiculturalism where its
students belong to more than thirty Arab and foreign nationalities.
UOP
continuously organizes various scientific and research events, cultural
activities, social activities and community service activities.
Quality
is a top priority to UOP. Out of believe in the significance of quality
in higher education, UOP has established high-level committee to
formulate 5-year strategic plan under the direction of the Ex Prime
Minister, Prof. Adnan Badran. UOP has collaborated with Al Hussein Fund
for Excellence (AFE) in education quality assurance. Thus, AFE has
commissioned a committee chaired by Ms. Marjorie Len, Director of
Quality Control Center for International Higher Education in the United
States of America (USA) to review the above plan. The committee has
praised distinguished efforts exerted by UOP staff and quality
committees.
Based
on this orientation, UOP has sought to meet all requirements of quality
certificates. Furthermore, UOP has completed necessary infrastructure
in faculties with the aim of increasing capacity of some majors as well
as total capacity for UOP from 5420 to 8024 students.
