The Jordanian Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions (AQACHEI) has approved launching the UOP Master's Program in Chemistry to be the first of its kind program in the private universities.

Dr. Abdel Mnim AlTwaiq, Chemistry Department Chair, said that the Chemistry Department was established in 1991, the same year UOP was incorporated, and was the first-ever chemistry department in Jordan that obtained accreditation certificate by the Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN e.V.). "The department intends to provide a distinctive Master Program to qualify the human resources for careers in manufacturing, scientific research, entrepreneurship, and innovation", Dr. Twaiq added. Dr. Twaiq said that the UOP Chemistry Department has conducted distinctive research projects that resulted in procuring state-of-the-art equipment, such as high-precision microscope, distinctive infrastructure, advanced devices and equipment for research purposes at the department and the university.

Prof. Rami Abdulraheem, Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences, said that launching this was as a result of the accumulated research and academic experiences of the chemistry teaching members who graduated from major international universities and published research papers in top peer-reviewed journals.
