The Department of Graphic Design of the University of Petra (DGD-UOP) organized the "Ways for Improving Communication Skills" symposium delivered by the international media expert and trainer, Zuhair Abdelkader, who worked in DW channel and as a correspondent for the Radio and Television Corporation, Jordan News Agency (Petra) and various other entities.
The symposium addressed the significance and means of communication both socially and scientifically, including communication style adaptation, etiquette, confidence, clarity, tone of voice, sympathy, and mutual respect. Abdel Kader discussed the types of communication, including verbal communication and non-verbal communication, and the significance of familiarity with these communication skills.
During the symposium, a practical application was conducted by imitating a job interview with a student as an applicant who was asked questions by the students attending the symposium. Then, the answers were evaluated to assess the extent to which the applicant was familiar with the communication skills. The attendees actively participated in the symposium. Two films were presented showing negative situations arising from the inability to communicate efficiently and properly.
DGD Chair Dr. Mohammad Khair referred to the significance of familiarity with efficient communication skills by graphic design graduates. Integration in the labor market as graphic design majors depends on audiovisual communication being presented to the audience with all designs.
