Professor Al-Raiyes holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Aachen University (Germany) (1966). He was awarded the prize for the best scientific Book Translated into Arabic by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science (1989). He has a total of over 100 books, research papers, articles, compositions, and manuscripts. He is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK), International Society of Heterocyclic Chemistry (USA), and Canadian Institute of Chemistry. He was a Visiting Professor in Konstanz University (Germany) (1983-1984). He was a member of the Nomination Committee for the Nobel Prize in chemistry (1986) and a member of the Nomination Committee for the Shoman Award for Young Arab Scientists (Chemistry) (1996).
Professor Al-Rayyes has been Honorary Professor at the University of Petra since 2010. He was Acting President of the University (2006-2007), Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Jordan University for women (2004-2006), University of Petra (2007-2010), Dean of Research and Higher Studies, University of Petra (2010), Assistant President, Jordan University for women (1998-2004), Dean of Faculty of Sciences at Jordan University for Women (1993-1996), Head of the Department of Chemistry, Jordan University for Women (1999-2003), Associate Professor, Kuwait University (1969-1978), Professor, Kuwait University (1978-1990).
