It is with a great pleasure to welcome you to the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) website. FIT is a dynamic faculty considered as an incubator for advancement in information technology, web development, innovation, and E-learning at Petra University. At FIT, we are always striving for new creative ideas to enhance the learning and teaching processes using the latest technologies. We firmly believe that once these ideas are tested and approved at the faculty level, they must be transformed into actual solutions that benefit the entire university.
With such responsibility on our shoulders, we are committed to provide the best scientific environment with the most qualified faculty members and staff, latest computer and networks labs, research centers, and the most advanced teaching resources. FIT has an academic team consisting of 28 faculty members, 7 lab supervisors, three lab and network technicians, three web developers, and five e-learning staff. We also have 15 fully equipped computer and networks labs, and 6 fully equipped class rooms.
At FIT, we believe that core of our business, is our student body. Revolving around this core is a quality controlled environment consisting of the best facilities, resources, training, non-curricular activities, advising, training, and so on. For such reasons, our doors are always open to all students with new ideas or suggestions.
We have worked hand in hand with students to establish the Student Activity Club (SAC), the Programming Club (.NET Club), Student Organization Club, Information Technology Student Activity Fair (ITSAF), Microsoft IT Academy, Participation in Microsoft Imagine Cup Competition, Intel Competition, and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Competition. We have also urged our students to be active in community services, and as a result a new volunteering club was established last year (called "I am a Volunteer"). We have also taken practical and professional training very seriously, we have developed a new program called "Embedded Training Program", which is a long-term professional training following predetermined tracks.
We have also introduced a recent concept of learning; "learning through competitions", which we imbedded in several courses such as the "Special Topics" courses and Senior Prroject course.
Once again, welcome to FIT. We look forward to helping you achieve your goals.
