Dr. Nuha Al-Khalili, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Petra (UOP), gave a lecture about UOP entitled: "The Green University Vision",  at the Canadian Embassy. There, she reviewed the measures taken by the university to reach a green campus.
In her lecture, Al-Khalili discussed ways to improve the campus in a number of frameworks: Energy, water, transportation, infrastructure, waste, education, and research. She noted that the concept of a green campus provides institutions with an opportunity to redefine their environmental culture, and to develop new methods that lead to finding sustainable solutions to the environmental, social and economic needs of people.
It is noteworthy to mention that UOP implemented effective programs for waste and water management, and to reduce the university's dependence on fossil fuel energy by replacing it with renewable energy.
