The Department of Chemistry is one of the pioneer department in the University of Petra and traces its history to 1991 when Faculty of Science was established.
Today, we are a dynamic department comprising talented faculty who are well-recognized in their fields of specializations and technical and administrative staff who facilitate the work at this department.
The last five years have witnessed our tremendous efforts in renewal of our department and facilities in keeping with modern technologies for theoretical and laboratory teaching. Today, the Department offers single program for undergraduate study loading to BSc. Degree in Chemistry. The Department operates good instrumentation facilities that support its research and teaching missions.
Chemists continue to be in demand by the industries, academia and governmental laboratories and we are proud that many of our former undergraduate students have gone on to hold noteworthy positions in these organizations.
The department continues its effort to be the ideal environment that ensures continuous research and quality undergraduate education.
