Banking & Finance
Overview
Banking and Finance is a discipline that aims to provide students with knowledge and practical skills needed to communicate effectively in business environment by putting financial and economic concepts into practice at banks and financial markets. The Department of Business Administration provides a 132 credit hour study plan that consists of university, faculty and department requirements The Department strengthened its capacity to qualify students in the practical areas of banking and finance through establishing E-trading room that is linked to Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) directly. The department, moreover, purchased computer programs for the works of brokerage firms. Therefore, the student can apply processes of trading in the virtual financial market. The department is improving its study plan in order to keep pace with recent developments at top foreign and Arab universities, particularly in using computer and English language in teaching and encouraging scientific research by teaching staff and students. Banking and finance graduates can work at the companies of public and private sector, including but not limited to: Central bank, commercial banks, insurance companies, investment companies and others. They can pursue higher studies in Jordanian and foreign universities. The Department achieved distinctive results in the university competency test during the last years and a UOP banking and finance student was one of the top five achievers in banking and finance major in Jordan in the last session.
