The Accounting Department of the University of Petra (UOP) held a workshop on Sunday 17/12/2017 entitled “Qualifying Accountants to Enter Labor Market” at FAFS, in cooperation with IGC Academy and Modernity Certified Auditors. Mr. Nizar Saifan, the Training Director of IGC Academy and Director of Modernity Certified Auditors, delivered the workshop. A number of accounting students, Accounting Department Chair Dr. Mohammad Alqam, Dr. Yasir Hamshari, Dr. Haytham Ali and tutor Hassan Al Jada’ attended the workshop.
Mr. Saifan discussed the types of job opportunities for fresh graduates of accounting, steps of preparing a professional resume and preferable practices in job interviews and responding to interviews’ questions through giving examples on weak, acceptable and good responses.
Mr. Saifan gave real examples on best practices the fresh graduates must follow to compete with their peers in the labor market and highlighted the need for learning about the nature of the company activity he/she applied for and attempting to predict the questions posed in the job interviews and how they are responded to.
Mr. Saifan responded to students’ queries and stated his readiness to cooperate with the Accounting Department in field training and in developing customized training courses.
At the close of the workshop, Dr. Mohammad Alqam thanked Mr. Saifan on his efforts and called for the continuation of mutual cooperation.
