Students of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at the University of Petra (UOP) passed the systematic clinical examination "OSCE" for the third time. The exam is specialized in diagnosing and treating diseases according to international medical recommendations.
Professor Dirar Balawi, the supervising professor of the exam and the consultant of clinical pharmacotherapy, said that the aim of this exam is to link theoretical content with clinical practice, which includes enabling students to learn the scientific method to evaluate the prescription medication and administer the appropriate drug treatment to the patient’s condition. It also enables the pharmacist to diagnose a number of minor illnesses and treat them according to international medical recommendations, in addition to raising the level of communication skills between the pharmacist and the patient.
Moreover, Balawi explained that the examination mechanism places the student in a series of stations, and each station represents a clinical condition in which a person represents the patient's role and the student must deal with it according to modern medical rules by understanding the condition, its diagnosis, and its administration of the right medicine, in keeping with the educational requirements of international accreditation.
