The University of Petra (UOP) has recently published a new book entitled: “Petra University: Lifetime Achievements and Successes”. The book consists of fifteen chapters on the most significant achievements of UOP during the past twenty-five years. During that period, undergraduate and postgraduate programs have increased from 17 programs to 34 programs. As for scientific research and development, UOP has registered 5 patents, outperforming local universities. Moreover, UOP professors’ published papers have increased to 248 annually. Additionally, the number of teaching staff has increased by 300%, to 291 and the actual number of registered students has increased to 7084 students who belong to 34 countries.
It is worth highlighting that UOP obtained Quality Assurance Certificate from Higher Education Accreditation Commission (HEAC) in 2015. Furthermore, UOP obtained ISO Certificate in 2011. Computer Information systems and Computer Science majors have been recently accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). UOP seeks to obtain global accreditation certificates for other majors in order to enhance education quality according to global standards.
