UOP, LUISS University Sign Scholarship Agreement

Prof. Marwan Muwalla, UOP President, emphasized that the international cooperation in the area of Higher Education contributes to cultural enrichment, achieving coexistence and providing quality education opportunities. Prof. Muwalla's statement was made during his participation in the opening ceremony of MedSeA Project at the Capital of Italy, Roma. The President of the Republic of Malta, Louise Preca and Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Angelino Alfano attended the opening ceremony.
Prof. Muwalla led the University of Petra (UOP) Delegation, composed of FAFS Dean, Dr. Saheer Al-Jaghoub and OFFER Director, Dr. Ali Maqousi. The project includes a number of European and Moroccan universities.
MedSeA Project aims at supporting refugees and hosting countries worldwide in the area of Higher Education. To this end, UOP and LUISS University signed an agreement for providing scholarships to Jordanian and refugee students enrolled at the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences (FAFS).
The agreement, funded by Third Pillar Foundation, covers study expenses for a number of UOP Jordanian and refugee students for three years, including one study year spent by Jordanian Students in Italy.
The projects contributes in building friendships and exchanging cultures, Malta President Louise Preca said, adding that the young people of Mediterranean sea will learn Democracy from education as it is the only way for building great civilizations.
The Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Angelino Alfano said that the project provides opportunities for dialogue among the Mediterranean partners and turning ideas into actions.
Prof. Emmanuel, the President of Third Pillar Foundation, elucidated that many civilizations coexisted in peace and cooperation for a very long period and education served as a mean for bridging differences. Prof. Emma Marcegaglia, LUISS University President, pointed out that MedSeA Project enables participating students to contribute in their society development.
