The Deanship of Student Affairs (DSA) at the University of Petra (UOP) organized a protest on the 70th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba and expressed rejection of US Administration's decision to move Embassy to Jerusalem. The protest was staged at the invitation of the Palestinian students studying at UOP and UOP teaching and administrative staff.
UOP President Prof. Marwan Muwalla said that all Arab peoples support their Palestinian brothers to help them obtain their legitimate rights and build their Independent Palestinian State at the Palestinian national territory with east Jerusalem as its capital.
Prof. Muwalla reiterated the statement made by his Majesty King Abdullah II, in which he emphasized that Jerusalem is the key to achieve peace and stability in the region as it has a special place in the hearts of Arabs and Muslims.
The protesters deplored Israeli’s outright attacks and violent acts against the Palestinians in Gaza Strip and West Bank and called on United Nations and Security Council to assume their ethical and legal responsibilities vis-à-vis the unarmed Palestinian people.
