On the
occasion of the World Consumer Right Day, the Marketing Department in the
Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences set up at the University of
Petra, a workshop entitled “Jordan Consumer Protection: Reality and Challenges”.
The workshop
aimed at highlighting the key consumer rights and demanding respect for these
rights, in addition to highlighting some false and unethical practices that are
detrimental to both consumer and environmental interests.
A number of
Faculty members from various faculty departments and a number of master’s
students specializing in Marketing and Business Administration attended the
workshop.
Discussed
in the workshop were the mechanisms exposed to the Jordanian Consumer Marketing
Frauds and Protection. Several topics were addressed including: “Consumer Protection
Movement: Reality and Ambition”, “Consumer Pattern in light of economic reality”
and “Marketing Fraud and its Impact on Consumer Pattern”.
Moreover, the
workshop focused on how to build awareness about the importance of consumer
rights in the Jordanian society and how to disseminate a culture of rational
consumption. Dr. Naji from the Marketing Department moderated the panel
discussion.
It is noteworthy
that World Consumer Rights Day comes on February 15.
